En haut apparaît l'inscription «150 o DELL’UNITA’ D’ITALIA» (150e anniversaire de l'unification de l'Italie); à droite, les initiales du pays émetteur «RI» (République italienne); en bas, les dates «1861 › 2011 › › »; sous les dates, au centre, la marque d'atelier «R» et à droite, les initiales de l'artiste Ettore Lorenzo Frapiccini ainsi que les trois premières lettres du nom italien de sa profession (incisore) «ELF INC.».

The inner part of the coin shows three Italian flags in the wind, representing the three anniversaries (1911, 1961 and 2011) and illustrating a link between generations; this is the logo of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. There are a number of inscriptions: at the top, the inscription 150º DELL'UNITÀ D'ITALIA; at the right, the initials RI; at the bottom, the dates 1861 › 2011 › ›; under the dates, at the centre, the mint mark, and at the right, the initials of the artist Ettore Lorenzo Frapiccini and his profession (incisore), ELF INC.. The twelve stars of the European Union surround the design on the outer ring of the coin.
